JustStartHere User
Guide
Getting
Started
Once you have registered your
details and set up monthly PayPal payments, you can
log into your JustStartHere account using your username and password here. Once you’ve signed in, on
the "My Account" page you can choose what morning price is used for comparison (9am/10am/11am) and what prices
are recorded and displayed on the website. We recommend using 11am for the morning comparison
prices.
During the
racing, stay on the "Upcoming" page to see the prices in the next race update automatically – you can then monitor
who the steamers and drifters are before the off. Once the race has started, the next race will automatically replace it at the top of the
page.
The "All Races"
page displays all of the day's races and the "Results" page shows who’s won and placed. If you want to download the
data for further analysis, click on "Generate CSV" and right-click on the file generated, selecting “Save link
as”. To access data from previous days, click on the "CSV History" link
at the bottom of the page . The CSV files can be opened and edited in Microsoft Excel. Alternatively you can copy
and paste the data into a spreadsheet direct from the results page at the end of the day - this will allow you to
keep a record of the colour-coding and the star ratings.
If you want to access data from before you joined, all of
the information dating back to the beginning of April 2011 is available to buy in CSV format here.
We upload the Cherry
Picks ratings to the site every morning in
both PDF and Excel format - they can be accessed by clicking on the "Cherry Picks" tab. If you want to access the historical Cherry Picks ratings, they are available to
buy here.
Above you can see a screenshot of
the JustStartHere upcoming races screen. The prices captured and displayed are the morning price (choice of
9am/10am/11am) and the 60, 30, 15, 5, 3, 2 & 1 minute prices. The prices from 60 minutes onwards are compared
against the morning price to produce the "Mov" figures. These are colour-coded to clearly indicate which horses
are steamers and which are drifters (please note: a percentage-based calculation is used as this
works better for comparison purposes).
The average price movement (Mean) is calculated at 1 minute before the off along with the
321 price movement figure which shows how the price has changed between 3 minutes and 1 minute before post
time (the time when most money is put down and therefore the most important time to monitor price
fluctuations). Again,
these figures are colour-coded according to the size of price and
price shift to clearly indicate which horses are steamers and which are drifters.
Viewing these
price fluctuations gives you the opportunity to identify potential back, place and lay selections based on weight
of money movement. Below we've outlined a number of ways in which the data provided
by JustStartHere can be used
to create betting systems.
JustStartHere
Betting System Ideas
To
show how the price movement data can be used, below we've outlined a number
of JustStartHere betting approaches
that we've investigated in the past. There is no hard and fast way of using the data - these examples
are here to act as an introductory guide to the service and to highlight what kind of things
to look out for. After some exposure to the service, you may want to refine or adapt some of the methods
outlined here to try and improve their profitability. For instance, you may want to include additional
selection filters based on factors such as race type, number of runners, race length, position
in betting etc. etc.
However you
decide to use the data on JustStartHere, it's worth
keeping this
advice in mind. If you would like to analyse any of these approaches or have discovered
your own system that warrants further investigation, all of the JustStartHere price movement information dating
back to the beginning of April 2011 is available to buy in CSV format here.

1. The
JustStartHere Star Ratings
System

Our star
ratings show which horses we think should be backed/dutched etc. based on
where the money's going. The stars appear on the upcoming races screen once the 1 minute prices are
in. Since introducing it July 2011 there have been a number of
notable 5 star winners, including:
27/8/2011 - Between You And
Me in the 17:45 at Down Royal
(Betfair SP of 134.85):

29/8/2011 - Backstreet Figher in the 17:40 at Warwick (Betfair SP
of 88.16):

31/7/2011 - Venture Lazarus in the 14:20 at Galway (Betfair SP
of 84.83):

15/7/2011 - Tory Hill
Lad in the 19:20 at Kilbeggan
(Betfair SP of 53.08). Highlighted
below in red is the 321 movement value. This indicates that a lot of money was placed on this outsider during the
last few minutes before post time by people in the know. You'll notice that the big priced winners above also
have large positive 321 movement values - it really does pay to look out for these unusual betting
patterns!

"I have been using the 5 star selected horses, placing the same amount on each
horse. It's proving really useful - from a £200
starting bank @ £2 per horse, I'm now up to
£600 and £6 per
horse.
Keep up the good
work!”

#1 “Thanks for your very helpful
email which gave me the renewed confidence to get back into the game of
making money.
Because other commitments
this afternoon, I was only able to dutch the first 6 races. You probably
know the rest……..6/6 did the business! This made me a cool 12 points profit in less than one hour.
This certainly beats
working for a living!"
#2 “To re-cap on my week so far, it
has been as follows:
-
Tuesday +12 pts (1
hour)
- Wednesday +23
pts (2.5 hrs)
- Thursday +40
pts (3 hrs)
Total so
far +75 pts (6.5
hrs)
I must congratulate you on
such a fantastic service. It is a real breath of fresh air to discover
something that delivers the goods.
Your system is like a
licence to print money!”

2. Backing the horse with the
highest positive Mov1, Mean and 321 values in each race to win. The Mov1, Mean and 321 values must all be
positive and the odds must be decimal 10 or less.

Below you can see a screenshot of one of seven winners that were flagged up
by JustStartHere as qualifying selections on March 7th 2011. The figures in the red box show the
price movement from 11am to 1 minute before post time (Mov1), the average price movement (Mean), and the
price movement from 3 minutes to 1 minute before post time (321) - all are positive:

On the 7th of March 2011 this system would have returned a total profit
of 24.73 points (based
on Betfair 1 minute prices):

3.
Backing the highest positive mover in each race with a Mov1 value of 4 or more to
win.

The Mov1 value compares the morning
price with the 1 minute price and is automatically calculated on the JustStartHere upcoming races tab 1 minute before the off. Between the 26th of
September and the 16th of October 2011, this approach amassed 110.68
points:

This system essentially consists of backing
exceptional positive market movers and perfectly demonstrates how effective following the money on the betting
exchanges can be. Obviously other selection filters can be introduced - e.g. avoiding Sundays would have increased
the above return by 23 points.
We mentioned this approach in one of our Cherry Picks emails and one JustStartHere customer got in
contact to let us know that he used the method to pick the winner in the 13:30 at Redcar on Friday the 14th of
October 2011:
|
"KERRRRRCHING!!!!
My Mate Jake:
Mov1 = 4.81
So, (as per your email this morning)
4+ on Mov1
Wins 10/1
!!!
You guys are geniuses! Many
thanks!"

4. Laying the horse with the
highest negative Mov1, Mean and 321
values in each race. The Mov1, Mean and 321 values must all be negative and the odds must be decimal 10 or
less.

JustStartHere as qualifying
selections on Tuesday 8th March 2011. The figures in the red box show the price movement from 11am to 1 minute before post time
(Mov1), the average price movement (Mean), and the price movement from 3 minutes
to 1 minute before post time (321) - all are
negative:

5. Backing
the highest positive 321 mover in
each race to place.
The 321 figure compares the 3 minute price with the 1 minute
price andis automatically calculated on the JustStartHere upcoming races tab 1
minute before the off. The last few minutes leading up to post time is the most important time to monitor the
market movers as it's when the vast majority of money is put
down.
On the 12th of October 2011 the
approach would have returned a huge profit of 36.3
points. There were 9 winning selections including For
Life in the 15:00 at Lingfield (Betfair
place SP of 11.03) and Bad
Cigar in the 14:15 at Punchestown (Betfair place SP
of 8.16). The 321 values are outlined in
red on the JustStartHere screenshots below:

6. Spotting Unusual Betting
Patterns
Below we've highlighted unusually large price shifts
during the last 3 minutes leading up to post-time for 2 big priced horses:

We decided to back both of them to place and got odds of 8.6 for Film Festival and 11.5
for Askthemaster. The latter duly finished 2nd and netted us a tidy
profit:

23/11/2011 - The
price of Hurricane In Dubai halved between 3 minutes and 1
minute before post time - from 240 into 120. It recorded the highest 321 value in
the race (outlined in red), and duly went on to place with a huge Betfair place SP of
25.22:

27/11/2011
- Crackerjac
Boywon the 15:30 at Carlisle after steaming
in from a 3 minute price of 46 to a 1 minute price of 34. It recorded the highest 321 value in the race (outlined in
red below):

27/11/2011 -
Nowurhurlin went
from a 3 minute price of 28 into a 1 minute price of 20 before winning the 13:55 at Carlisle. Again, it recorded the highest
321 value in the race:

28/11/2011 - Novabridge
steamed in from a 3 minute
price of 130 to a 1 minute price of 70 before placing in the 15:20 at Wolverhampton with a Betfair
place SP of 14. It recorded a huge 321 value of 4.61
(outlined in red on the
screenshot below):

We used Betfair Multiples to place an each-way bet:
